2004 Motorcycle Road Racing Championships

Apexx Performance, A3 Motorsport and MotorcycleAsia™ in cooperation with Bridgestone Battlax Motorcycle Tires, Malayan Insurance and aired by BYK101 - presents the 1st Team Moto Road Racing Championship in the Philippines. The Team "MOTO-RR".

Have you always wanted to know what its like to race a motorcycle? We know you've all seen it on the tube and probably seen some races at the track but did you ever think that one day, IT COULD BE YOU? Who knows, you could even be faster than most of the riders you see out there but you're also probably thinking that the expenses involved in racing a motorcycle, heck, even an entire team. But then again, you've never heard of anything like what we've been able to conjure up for the racer in you that has yet to come out. Here it is:

Team MOTO-RR is a race series specially organized for riders like you who've probably wanted to race or get into racing but have never looked into the process of getting a sponsors and setting up a race bike... the list is endless, complicated and requires too much money. MOTO-RR is here to defy everything you've ever known about the complications of getting into racing motorcycles.

MOTO-RR has been meticulously designed to be an entry level racing platform for anyone and everyone who is interested in being in the track. It's a one day affair - and will be only held 4 times this year. So, if you have that competetive spirit in you and at the same time you simply want to have fun, MOTO-RR is the race series for you.

Any motorcycle with a displacement of 250cc or larger can entered the series. If you think a liter-class bike will help you on the track, then by all means, sign up. You and your riding buddies or Motorcycle Club can be paired up with seasoned racers so you can gain valuable lessons from their experience.

Everyone has a chance to win. The concept of the MOTO-RR is based on a team effort. Each team, will have to consist of 4 riders and at least 2 bikes (yes you can even share your bikes) - will be racing against riders with the same skill classification.

This makes racing more fun and affordable and you'll even get the chance to see youeself on TV through Byk101's telecast.

Cash prizes are at stake - its not about who is the fastest rider or who's got the fastest bike but who has the best team working together that will eventually win!

The 2004 MOTO-RR Championship will be held at the Batangas Racing Circuit on March 7, April 18, June 6 and August 8, 2004.

Here's how this all works so pay close attention:

TEAM Mechanics:

1.
Each team will consist of four (4) riders from different classes based on racing experience.
2.
Riders will be classified as A, B, and C.
3.
Rider classifications are as follows:
 
A
-
Expert rider/racer based on past circuit or road racing
B
-
Novice/Intermediate rider/racer based on past circuit or road racing (BRC, Subic, AF3, APRC and others)
C
-
Rider with no racing experience, official track time or official race track participation
Note: A racers with a minimum of one (1) year absence may drop to B and B racers with minimum a one (1) year absence and clock an average of 1:55.99 in the previous season may be classified as C.
4.
Team combinations allowed a maximum four (4) riders per team with a selected TEAM CAPTAIN. A combination of two (2) sub-teams within the four (4) will complete a team. Combinations of sub-team 1 and 2 are as follows:

AB/CC
B

AC/CC

BC/CC

BB/C

Note:

* Maximum of one (1) "A" per team
  * Maximum of two (2) "B" per team if "A" is present
  * Maximum of three (3) "B" per team if NO "A" is present

 

RACE Mechanics and Rules:

1.
Each sub-team will have two (2) races of 12 laps per leg. Race one and three / Race two and four. Total of 4 races per Team, consisting of 2 races each per sub-team.
2.

Once a team list of sub-team riders combination has been submitted, the following race rules shall apply:

A
-
All rider "A" and respective teammate will participate in race 1 and 3.
B
-
The sub-teammates of other combination will participate in race 2 and 4.
C
-
No switching of riders and motorcycles between races allowed within a race leg.
D
-
All riders must be registered to a respective motorcycle per race leg.
E
-
A team spare motorcycle may be nominated and registered. However, in the event it be utilized by a team member, the said motorcycle may no longer be used by another teammate in the same race leg.
3.
Grid positions will be determined as follows:
A
-
All Team Captains will each draw-a-lot from Grid # 1... (depending on how many teams). For Race 1 & 2.
B
-
If he/she draws "3" (3rd on the grid), his sub-teammate in the same race will automatically be on grid # 13. This will be applied for all draws. Ex. 1-11/2-12 and so on and so forth.
C
-
The lot drawn by the team captain will also apply to sub-teammates in race 2.
D
-
All Team Captains will draw again for races 3 and 4 to determined the new grid positions for each team. Same rules shall apply.
4.
Team Points and Positions:
A
-
At the end of each race, each sub Team shall be awarded points in the order they crossed the finish line.
B
-
Total points for race 1, 2, 3 and 4.
C
-
For respective teams will be added and summed to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for the competition.
D
-
Race points are as follows:

Any rider who fails to make the race warm up lap will be allowed to join the race, BUT will start at the PIT LANE and wait to be cued by the Chief Marshall when to enter the race track. Said rider will NOT be deducted any points in such case.
6.
In the event of a race being stopped. If a race has completed more that 9 laps (75%), it shall be counted as a full race.
7.
Only 1 lap completed will mean a re-start using original grid positions if the race is stopped. One lap shall be deducted from restart of the total race distance. Any rider delay in previous may rejoin the re-start from his/her original grid position.
8.
If less than 9 laps but more than 1 have been completed, a re-start using the previous lap shall apply.
9.
Lap computation on stop race. I.E. Stop within lap 4 will count on 3rd lap position to determine re-start grid positions. Race total lap shall be at 12 - 3 = 9 laps for re-start.
10.
On riders who have crossed the start/finish line will be allowed to re-start based to the time and lap system.
11.
No lap deductions shall be imposed on back-markers when a re-start occurs. Only the grid positions will determine the riders position of a re-started race.
12.
No refueling shall be allowed. Only safety repairs or tire changes for wet races with approval of the race official will be allowed. In the event that the race call is done and riders are delayed to re-enter the race track, the pit lane start will occur for the late riders.
13.
Any team that makes changes to the team line up within the season or between legs shall be recognized as a new team. All previous points will be forfeited.

Coverage and Awards:

1.
The 2004 Moto Road Racing Championship Series will run 4 legs.
2.
There will be 4 races per race leg.
3.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner shall be given awards. Special CASH awards to the different finishers shall also be awarded. Other awards are to the discretion of the race sponsor.
4.
Every leg shall have respective winners according to the team points for the leg event.
5.
Awards to each leg series shall be awarded to the respective winners of each.
6.
An overall Championship award shall be given the team that has accumulated the highest points in all four (4) legs of the series.
7.
Special awards, prices and additionals will be announced during the season.
