Great ride!

May I ask which brand/model of GPS didn't work in the remote areas & which brand/models did?

Thanks Teng! Although we were really expecting you to join us so you and Binggoy can teach us the ropes. Binggoy's tips and guidance gave us a lot of confidence though. I am hoping that he can access MCA soon so he can view the pics. He's having trouble with his SmartBro.

Dave, the GPS is a Garmin Nuvi 1350 that Cezar owns. And the bike that Binggoy was using is a Honda XR200.
Life may begin at 30, but it doesn't get real interesting until 150.

Dave.

Dave, the GPS sold here are loaded with a third party map downloaded from a website called roadguide, the background of those map ISN'T garmin and lacks precision in the display information, it means that only the main roads are available, any detailed search of an address per example might fail if the address is referring to a street that isn't in the loaded database. The GPS of Cesar is good, the map isn't.

It means that Garmin GPS in the Philippines are good only in high populated area and on main roads... So not really usefull...
My GPS is "sense-of-orientation-and-photographic-memory" the brand is "moi" (is it quite good, but requires the other GPS "TOM")...

Sound of chainsaw could be heard in the distance... this kind of scenery is very common in Palawan the "last frontier" burned down for crops... usually on steep slope, prone to being washed away a the first heavy rain.

Tom, getting much more relax now, is definitely having a great time on his 650...

last stop before Infanta, regrouping and relaxation time for Binggoy's lungs...

Agos river.

Tom's order...

there wasn't any space on the table for our order so we decided to share with Tom...

En route to Gen Nakar's bridge, crossing the mouth of Agos river.

Binggoy and Cesar decided to wait here...

... while below the bridge a few local were doing common chores.

The river here is no longer a river but part of the sea, so this is Lamon's bay water...

Tom decided to push up to the end of the bridge, intrigued by the structure erected there.

Dave and Cyril, check out roadguide.ph again. It has a demo map that's much, much more detailed and updated periodically. You can save it in Mapsource but you can't download it in your GPS, unless you're a contributor to the map. Too bad I don't know how.

Beerboy is a major contributor, however. So you guys can bug him for tips.

Are those people standing of that arch???

So there I went, challenging Tom to go up there so I could take the picture that would make him either "wanted" or famous... well famous in both instances... And that guy has Big Brass B...s and he said "wait and see!"
So he parked his bike (a 650!) and...

... tadaaaa!

Yes Doc, I noticed this, I guess it simply mean to financially contribute to the development of the site and it's product, although I might be wrong. The Map on Cesar was from this site and went awol on our way...
Am sure it will come to be more accurate in the future but as of now...
As for downloading to your GPS, if you have a Garmin, I suggest you use MapManager, uploaded it to your mac or PC, then to your unit via USb or wifi if your unit is wifi capable...

We had to wait here... wait some more, and more again... The guy on the other side of the bridge was certainly colorblind and let all the truch pass despite the red flag waived desperately on our side...

Tom is holding Binggoy to make sure that he won't start before him... It ain't fair or else!

Binggoy and Cesar taking it easy...

...

As another kind of riders passed by in the background, Cesar leans toward Binggoy as the guru will reveal the secret of the perfect slide...

Laguna de Bay... had to speed up to catch up those guys in front of me... Nobody noticed that I stopped for a pic... Or they are soooo used to it that "what the heck, he'll catch up anyway, as usual..."

Time of farewell, Binggoy went North while we went West at Famy...

Looks like smart broadband sucks a lot these days... (DocTrigz will you shift to smart then??? ) Since all you guys using this server can't access MCA... Better change subscription or request from Smart to grant you access to the website...

So there it is to conclude this nice trip with Binggoy, Cesar and Tom, thank you guys for the great Sunday morning, the wonderful road trip to Infanta, and the loop around Laguna!

The route you guys took are already in the RoadGuide.ph contributors map. I know as I contributed it a few months ago when I first rode through it.

No you don't have to contribute financially but just have to contribute waypoints, tracks, routes, etc. to gain the contributor status.

Cool, so it means that anyone with a gps can become a contributor by sharing their recorded route, is that correct?
